How Dear Inner Chaos Was Born: My Journey from Blank Pages to Real Change
I’d bought a stack of pretty notebooks about two years ago, full of good intentions, but they stayed untouched. It wasn’t until I started therapy a year ago—working on motivation, confidence, and getting unstuck—that I found myself desperate for a way to keep track of my progress.
One morning, still half-asleep, I made my way to the living room, tea in hand, my two dogs snuggled up beside me. My therapist had suggested I write down a handful of things I actually could do that day—no more than six. So I wrote: “Walk 6,000 steps,” “Reply to that email,” “Vacuum the apartment,” and a few personal goals like “Stay under my calorie target” or “Do a quick workout.”
At first, nothing dramatic happened. I didn’t feel an instant “aha!” moment. But I kept at it. Some days I filled the list; some days I only managed three items. After a week, I realized I was less frantic during the day. After two weeks, I actually looked forward to sitting down with my journal. By the third week, checking off even the smallest task—like vacuuming—brought a little rush of pride.
It wasn’t magic, and it didn’t happen overnight. It was the small wins adding up: calmer evenings, better sleep, and a surprise boost of long-term motivation that stuck around even when life got busy.
That experience showed me how something so simple—just writing down doable steps—could bring real relief. It inspired me to create Dear Inner Chaos, because I knew I wasn’t the only one drowning in thoughts and to-dos.
I started with three journals, each one born from my own journey:
- Dear Inner Chaos Journal: My flagship 90-day reflection journal, designed to help you notice patterns, celebrate progress, and learn from tough moments.
- ADHD Checklist Journal: A 12-week planner with monthly overviews, weekly check-ins, and daily pages to help break big goals into bite-sized steps.
- Anxiety Relief Journal: Practical pages that guide you through short, calming exercises whenever anxiety strikes.
Each journal blends quick daily entries with deeper reflections so you can see both immediate progress and longer-term growth.
On this blog, I’ll share the tricks and techniques I’ve learned—like simple breathing exercises that really work, or how reflecting on just one good thing each night can shift your mood. I’ll also walk you through my own rituals (no fancy apps or timers—just pen, paper, and a cozy corner of the couch).
I’m not promising instant transformation. But if you stick with it, day by day, your own small victories will add up to real change.
